The due date for full property tax payment is approaching

Routt County Treasurer and Public Trustee Lane Iacovetto reminds homeowners that the due date for paying their property taxes in full is April 30.

As the due date falls on a weekend, full payments will be accepted until the following Monday, May 2. Mailed payments must be US postmarked on or before May 2 to be considered timely. Any payment received postmarked after May 2 will be subject to late payment interest in accordance with Colorado Revised Statutes.

The deadline is for taxpayers who do not have a mortgage company that pays their property taxes and who choose to pay their taxes in one installment rather than two equal installments.

There are several ways to make a payment. Property taxes can be paid online by credit card, debit card or electronic check. There is no charge for eCheck payments.

Taxpayers can mail their payments to the Routt County Treasurer and Public Trustee at 522 Lincoln Ave. Ste. 22 in Steamboat Springs, CO 80487 or drop payment in the 24-hour secure drop box or pay in person between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Individuals must quote tax account number(s) on check and include payment coupons.
