RSupplemental Security Income recipients will receive the last half of their September payments in 10 days, marking their second payment of the month due to a scheduling quirk in the agency’s program.
Eligible recipients can expect to receive their payment of $841 on September 30, equaling a monthly total of $1,682 after receiving another payment earlier in the month, according to the Social Security Administration. Eligible couples will receive two payments of $1,261 in September. Essential people, meaning people who live with someone receiving SSI and provide necessary care, will also receive their second payment of $421 on September 30.
2022 SOCIAL SECURITY PAYMENT: SECOND HALF MONTHLY CHECKS FOR $1,682 TO BE SENT IN A FEW WEEKS
September is one of the three months of the year when there are two SSI payments, the other two months being April and December.
Double payments compensate for months in which no payments are sent to ensure that eligible persons receive 12 payments per year, according to the SSA schedule. For 2022, payments are not made in January, May or October because the first days of these months are a holiday or a weekend.
