IRS: Track your stimulus payment if it’s still missing

The 2022 tax season is in full swing, and despite this, some Americans still find themselves waiting for their payment from the IRS.

The IRS began accepting returns this year on January 24, and more than 4 million tax refunds were issued in two weeks.

According to the IRS, 9 out of 10 refunds are issued within 21 days of accepting returns.

They may take longer if your return requires further review.

Here’s what to do if you’re still waiting for a payment from the IRS

You can no longer use the Get My Payment tool to check the status of your stimulus payment.

If you want to know the amount of your third payment, you will need to consult it in your online account or consult Notice 1444-C.

This notice has been sent detailing your third stimulus payment after it was sent.

In March 2022, people also received letter 6475, which says the same thing.

To claim a missing payment, you will need to claim the recovery rebate credit.

You can calculate this by adding the amount of the third stimulus payment and any additional payments you may have received.

If your payment status is not available, you can safely claim the recovery rebate credit.

IRS Payment Tracking Messages

There are also other posts that people have seen.

This includes a “Need more information” message.

This means that the IRS does not have enough information to send a payment electronically.

If you see “Please try again later”, you must wait 24 hours before you can come back to watch.

You may be locked out if you have not entered information that matches what the IRS has on file or if you have logged in more than 5 times.

What if the IRS says they sent my check but I didn’t receive it?

In order to see the amounts the IRS claims to send, you can view your account online.

In addition, notices have been sent out detailing payments made for stimulus amounts.

Notice 1444 is for the first payment in 2020, notice 1444-B is for the second payment in 2020, and notice 1444-C is for the third payment in 2021.

You can then claim these payments on your return.
