Greater Nevada Mortgage offers down payment assistance to eligible first time home buyers

Greater Nevada Mortgage (GNM), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Greater Nevada Credit Union (GNCU), is one of a number of mortgage lenders participating in the Federal Home Loan Bank’s Workforce Initiative Subsidy for Homeownership (WISH) program. San Francisco. Through this program, eligible low-to-middle-income Nevada homebuyers can qualify for 4-to-1 matching grants of up to $22,000 in down payment assistance.

“As a participating financial institution, Greater Nevada Mortgage is delighted to have been selected to participate in the WISH program for the second consecutive year,” said James Anderson, executive vice president of Greater Nevada Mortgage. “The housing market is tough right now, but there are support options available for families and working individuals to make the transition from renting to owning a reality.”

Eligibility for the WISH program includes:

  • Successful completion of the approved homebuyer counseling program.
  • Be a first-time homebuyer, as defined by the Bank in its AHP Implementation Plan.
    Meet the income eligibility criteria, as published by the Bank at the time of enrollment in the WISH program and be at or below 80% of the HUD area median income.
  • Approval via income criteria.
  • Application Submission for Nevada and/or California Properties.
  • Membership in the Greater Nevada Credit Union is required to receive the grant.
