This has resulted in an increase in the search for the fourth check – but there is no indication that it is on its way.

And while a fourth stimulus check may not be a reality this year, some people may still be entitled to more cash.

From stimulus checks to Universal Basic Income Payments, we explain what you might be entitled to in the New Year.

Stimulus payments

Parents who welcomed a baby in 2021 could receive stimulus funds in 2022.

The IRS issues all payments based on a person’s 2020 tax return.

Changes in life, such as a newborn baby, will not be known until you file your 2021 returns.

The IRS said new parents will have to wait to receive their money.

Taxpayers will need to claim a recovery refund credit for the child in the 2021 income tax return that will be filed in 2022.

Child tax credits

Parents with a newborn baby in 2021 are also eligible for the child tax credit.

This also applies if you have adopted or gained a new dependent child since filing your taxes.

The credit offers up to $ 300 per month for each child 17 years of age or under.

Parents should update their information on the child tax credit portal.

There you can choose to get the full credit of $ 3,600 when filing a 2021 tax return in 2022 and report the infant as the first dependent.

Universal Basic Income Programs

Eligible people who live in Los Angeles and Chicago will also see money in 2022.

Los Angeles is currently accepting applications for its Guaranteed Basic Income program known as BIG JUMP.

Approximately 3,000 people affected by the pandemic and living in poverty will be selected from applications to receive $ 1,000 in monthly payments for one year.

In Chicago, a similar program will provide 5,000 eligible households with $ 500 per month for one year.

People will be chosen at random, but you must live in Chicago and earn less than $ 35,000 per year to qualify.
