Srinagar, June 19: Jammu and Kashmir Cyber ​​Police has appealed to the public not to respond to any of the false messages such as “power supply will be cut off at 9.30pm tonight due to utility bill not being updated. electricity last month”. They said people should not fall prey to these scams.

According to the Cyber ​​Police, a fake link is sent to the consumer’s mobile number to pay the electricity bill through an online transaction.

They said customers are also encouraged to download apps to pay their electricity bills. If the customers respond, there is a high chance that the computer system as well as the bank account balance will be hacked.

The officials said, “Consumers should completely ignore these fake messages and links.”

According to PDD department, their employees never collect bank account, debit card or credit card details except payment receipt invoice and the company cannot send any website link by SMS for bill payment.

Cyber ​​Police called on people to follow these instructions to avoid being duped by scammers.

Do not reply to messages received from unknown sources. Do not dial the number mentioned in the SMS.

Don’t download any apps. ‘Do not make any transaction even if it is small amount like Rs 10 or 11. ‘Do not share any passcode generated on your phone.
