A man cheated on a male escort using a check that bounced

A man has admitted to cheating a male escort out of payment after his check was dishonoured. Michael Goldsmith, 51, had the encounter in Anglesey but obtained sex dishonestly, a court heard today.

Goldsmith pleaded guilty to obtaining sexual services from Beaumaris’ male escort between December 4 and December 7, 2020 dishonestly under the Fraud Act 2006 when he appeared via remote link at Caernarfon Magistrates’ Court.

The defendant, of Glyn Garth Court, Menai Bridge, was said to have paid by check and that these services had been ‘made available’ on the grounds that payment ‘had been, was or would be made for them, and you have obtained without any payment having been made for them, or without having been fully paid.”

Goldsmith also admitted a second charge of making payment for goods or services by check and engaging the services of an escort or prostitute, without making payment in advance, in Beaumaris on December 17, 2020, which a criminal forbade him to do. behavior order imposed at Caernarfon Crown Court in March 2017.

Prosecutor Adam Warner asked the magistrates to send the case back to Crown Court for sentencing. He said: “It is not the first time that he has obtained the services of a male escort without intending to pay. This is a deliberate fraud on what was a vulnerable person. “

He said that given the defendant’s background and his admission that he had breached a crown court order, he suggested that the bench refer the case back to the crown court for determination of the sadness.

Magistrates agreed and adjourned the case to Caernarfon Crown Court next month for sentencing. Goldsmith has been released on unconditional bail until then. They also ordered that a pre-sentence report be prepared prior to this hearing.
