Default High RPM Miss

Had a high rpm miss in my GT after 4500 rpm in second and third gear. I narrowed the spark plug gap down to .040 and the miss is gone. Now it is smooth all the way to redline and the power increase really puts a smile on my face.

TSB 18-029-03 addresses this issue. I am getting my PCM replaced under warranty. Seems there is an actual hardware fault with all PCMs installed in autostick cars prior to 3/22/03 and 5-speeds prior to 1/22/03.

My dealer couldn't pull up this info. so I needed to call 800-992-1997 and have the people I spoke with contact my dealer's service department with the pertinent info. before they would order the part.

Does the TSB refer only to auto-stick?

nope.. 5 speeds with PCMs installed in cars piror to 1/22/03 also seem to be affected.
Which *thankfully* covers mine, which will hopefully help cure *some* of the problems I have been having.

Is the problem you folks are having something that feels like a very slight hesitation, or a real jolt of sort in the whole engine ?
The reason I ask is I am having a similar problem . I have added a boost control and BOV and I am running under full throttle , around 13 - 15 psi and when the computer spots an overboost situation, it shuts off the fuel injectors and it feels like the car hit a brick wall ! You have back off RIGHT away and of course the computer gives you back your fuel ! Obviously, at some point in the future, I should will address this with the Dealership and we will see if these are two different issue here. I believe they probably are......but you never know. ps.... I sometimes will have the shut off condition without bringing on the engine light for an over boost condition. This is why I posed this question to you out there having trouble. Good Luck.

It is a slight miss. Mine happens between 2nd and 3rd and 3rd and 4th. It starts around 5200 and stops at 6000 right before the shift. My dealer has ordered a new ECU.

Yes , I figured that they are two different items. Just today I turned back the boost controller so I am peaking at around 13 psi. I think that I will also have a little talk with the boys at the dealership to see how they feel about changing the ECU anyway. You have to think that there may be some other minor upgrades in there somewhere. !!
