I also have a HKS SSQ BOV and have an auto. Not sure how much good it does at stock boost levels but if you are going to play at all with the boost it may be worth the investment. Even running at stock boost it goes off alot so it must be doing some good.. And there is always the coolness factor.

The aftermarket BOV would be more efficient, so to speak. I put the HKS SSQ on my STi. With the factory one, the boost gauge needle quivered back and forth and with this one it stays solidly in place when not under boost. Boosts a little faster and holds it a tiny bit longer. I doubt any real gains in power but my brother drove it, said it seemed more responsive, so it might have just extended the range over which it holds boost.

This babble probably helps none but... It shouldn't HURT anything, especially if you do further mods later, it sounds really cool and if you can get to the factory bits easily, install isn't hard. Of course, my car has a TMIC so it was especially easy, excepting for the @#$% hose clamp on the hose that recirculates air.
