Default JL Custom PT Convertible - 2 versions - explain?

I was toy shopping today and while at Target I was checking the Johnny Lightning Custom PTs.

I have all of the "regular" editions and have about half of the editions that have tires with three tread lines - I'm guessing those are the rubber tire editions

I noticed something odd about two of the convertibles they had. This picture shows the model I have always seen on top.

The one on bottom is the "odd" one. The wheels and tires are noticeably different and my first thought was "white lightning" but there's no other differences I can see, like a pure white interior or anything else obvious. Unlike the other (I'm assuming) rubber tire editions the "odd" tire does not have any tread lines.

Here's the "regular" wheel and tire

And the "odd" wheel and tire

Another item of interest is the tab that holds the top and bottom of the car together, which shows through where the license plate would be. All of the regular ones I have show through as the silvery color that makes up the car. One of the "odd" tire versions also has a silver tab but the other "odd" version has a black tab.

Silver tab

Black Tab

Anyone have any idea if I found something special here?

Cool Re: JL Custom PT Convertible - 2 versions - explain?

Whenever I'm toy shopping and I get to something that I already have, I just keep on looking - I guess I'll have to start paying attention!

JL made a small percentage of the PT Cruisers with rubber wheels, I believe it was something like 10%. They have done this with other series as well. Not quite as limited as White Lightnings (1%), but still a good find.
