Question Cruiser toys

I know nothing of Cruiser toys. If I wanted to get a metal Cruiser model, not an expensive one, in silver, to take apart and paint and just make it look like mine in general, what would be good to get? What size model and any particular brand or place to get it? What tools would be best to use to take the wheels off and mold the body kit on or create the hood scoops?

You might want to talk to Bill (Outlaw8) about this subject. He's very good at modifying diecast models. I would think that a 1:18 scale Maisto would be a good choice to use. Any smaller and modiying it could be too intricate.

What I intend to do is remove the wheels. That should be all that has to come off. Then I want to try and add a second exhaust tip for it, mold the kit on, paint window pillars and such to match mine (if they aren't already), add the logo flames and all. To finish it, I will do whatever I need to to sink the rear wheels in a little so the tires tuck into the wheel wells some, and then re-attach the front wheels so it looks like the front has been lifted. With the front up and back down and all the right additions (left out dual scoop hood above), it'll look like my car does at shows.

As "The King" said... the 1/18 Maisto is a great choice. I also like the 1/18 Gate (more detailed inside, you'll have to paint the instrument gauge/passenger ABS though)...

I'm almost done with my 1/18 Pronto Cruizer Cabrio, so once I've completed it I'll post pics to give you some ideas. So far I've modified (to varying degree) the following 1/18 diecast models:

Miasto Pronto Cruizer Cabrio
Maisto 4x4 Monster Panel Cruiser
MotorMax Two-Tone Lowrider GT
Gate PT Cruiser Convertible
Maisto PT Woody w/Gold LowRider whitewalls
Maisto Cool Cruiser w/17" & 16" 5-spokes (from Pronto Cruizer)

Just ask if you want some help...
