Question BIG Mystery need Help!!

:Hi Gang..can really use your help here..My 05 turbo stg 1 will not start. The battery died and I got a boost and all was fine 4 days later she;s dead again. I tried boost etc no good. I picked up a new battery and she starts. A week later she is dead.
OK I boost the new battery and it starts. I try to figure out if it is the alternator by pulling the Pos lead whe running and sure enuf she dies. I have a harder time boosting and getting her restarted but do. I shut her down and go back an hour later and she will not start.
I keep getting a click click click sound like a dead battery or loose connection but all seems good.
I also get a sequence of whirring and on off switching like sounds in the dash area inside the car.

Help..any thoughts any of you gurus?? DaSHado

Cool Re: BIG Mystery need Help!!

Is the alternator belt missing? Sounds like a dead or dying alternator.

Not knowing much mechanical...is a dead alternator going to give you the inability to start the car even if you boost it??

Sears, and I think WalMart will test your charging system for free. Sounds like alternator died.

You can find out pretty easily if it's charging if you have a voltmeter. But like QSDon said, I'd go get a freebie check on that. You either have something really draining your battery, or you're not charging your battery and driving on battery alone which would explain the rapid discharge. Also, are you sure you didn't lose your alternator belt???

Altenator dies car is dead you can't jump nothing you are DOA(dead on axles). And don't ever run the car with the battery cables disconnected, that is old tech, these cars you can fry the PCM..

Sounds like you are A) not driving it enough B)have a power drain, sound system, alarm system, Multi-function switch that is letting power through C)even a bad cell in the battery.

Whirring sound - Hmm sounds like the fuel pump coming to life. Confirm this if you have enough juice, leave drivers door open, turn key to "on" and listen. You should hear it prime the system. On a normal it would whir then kinda stop you turn the key and it starts.

The whirring in the dash makes me think of ONE thing, may or not be what the sound is...but I had a sort of rythmic ticking sound in the dash a couple of years back. It drove me nuts for a couple of days. Turned out to be my rear wiper switch was ON, but my wiper has long since been removed....the motor is still in place, though. If you still have your wiper, well, then, that's not it!! The door lock control box is in the top center under the dash too. Are the locks/remote working properly?
Good luck figuring out the trouble.
For the dying, the alternater seems like a a likely culprit since a new battery didn't help much.

Not to hijack the thread...but speaking of fuel pumps...mine "knocks" once in awhile (litterally sounds like someone knocking on the outside of the car when I turn it off, right by the fuel door).
