Default Supercharger Owners

Just a question, are there any others out there running a Whipple or Jackson Supercharger on their PT? I've had the Whipple on my 2002 PT since Sep 03 and its performed 100%, still puts out 8 lbs of boost. I just wanted to know if anyone else has had such luck and if anyone has come up with a way to squeeze another pound or two of boost.

Jim

one of the lucky ones. I went to buy mine to be told they stopped making the compressors. I was about 3 months to late. There are a bunch around, not sure if anybody thats left here has one though. With the computer chip in-line I don't think you can crank it up with going back to Whipple for a reprogram. Otherwise a different pulley size would make it spin faster. Again a call to whipple would let you know. ? do you have a early model and late model charger?

I've got one of the later model Whipples so it came with the "upgraded" piggyback ECU. As I said, it has( knock on wood) performed perfectly for four and a half years now, although you can't even think about using regular gas. I was just interested to see if anyone had managed to increase the boost. Unfortunately, Whipple is not a very customer responsive organization, even back when they were still sellling the PT superchargers. But then again the combination of the supercharger and the five speed does make it fun to drive

Without upgrading the rods and pistons, I wouldn't add any more boost. You are asking for bent rods or worst, a thrown rod through the block.

A pulley change (smaller) will add boost, BUT you need to know if you can tune the computer to add the proper amount of fuel to take advantage of it. If your Whipple is running fine and has been for years, then knock on wood and be happy with what you have. No need to cause a problem that may not have an easy solution or are unable to return back to where you started.

Keep what you have and be happy with it. I have known lots of people that have not been so lucky.

If you want to build up the bottom end go for it, then you have the platform to go just about anywhere you want to. But if you are happy keep it and drive it like you stole it!

Just might take the plunge and do the bottom end stuff when I scrape up a few more dollars, but in the mean time I'll just continue to drive it and enjoy it as is. That is until the price of premium gas reaches $5.00 a gallon!
