Default odometer and gas mileage

Well I tried to answer the gas mileage post but my reply does not show. So hear goes.
I have another idea, on my 6,000 mile cruise this summer I compared my odometer reading to the mile markers on the side of the freeways. I did it several times in several states. My odometer always read less than what the mile markers showed. I would look at the road sign, say it read 247 miles, and then looked at my odometer. At mile marker 347 I looked at my odometer and it would be 2 to 3 miles less than what it should have been. My trip meter was worse it showed 3 to 4 miles less for the 100 miles. I also did it for 200 miles with the same results. Has anyone else noticed this? So, my suggestion for the PT owners getting low mpg is to make sure the odometer is reading somewhere close to actual miles driven.

Interesting, mine seems to read faster and rack up more miles than actually traveled!
