Cruise Control Not Working for 1st 80 miles

I bought my PT Cruiser 4 days ago and noticed that the cruise control would not work. If I was standing still, the light would come on, but if I accelerated, the light would shut off. Forget about trying to turn it on while driving. Once the car had 80 miles on it, the cruise control started working with no problems. I asked the dealer and they said that if it is working now, they can't trace it. Any thoughts why it wasn't working? I was wondering if the computer would not let the cruise engage for the first 80 miles or so (due to transmission calibration??). If anyone has any information - let me know

Although I would doubt that the computer is programmed to ignore the CC for the first 80 miles, using the CC is contrary to the break in procedure stated in your owner's manual.
