Here is the way I have ended up with my strips. I tested the temp of the AC air, coming in the top center vent.
With the strip in place, running at 35 mph, the air was 3-5 degrees cooler with the strip on, than with it off completely.
Placing a 24" strip just in front of the fresh air intake, leaving about 12" open in the middle, dropped the temp back down to the same as with the complete strip.
Having the sides shortened 18" on each side, keeps the under hood temps as cool as any test I've done, plus the air cleaner is breathing almost outside temp air. Last weekend I ran through a bad storm with heavy rain on the interstate and found no water in the bay with all the rubber out!. I had to stop under an overpass cause I just could not see safely, so I pooped the hood to look.

Use your own judgement on all this info, ... just letting you know!
I haven't forgotten the CO test, there is something wrong with the battery, so we have ordered a new one. It is a spec fit in the unit.

Bob, Is that a turbo pictured above or are you using dual air induction?

Hey Eddie,
The turbo is not in the picture. It lives down low behind the engine. The K&N filter hooks to a 2.5" pipe that goes down under the car to the intake side of the turbo. The pipe you see with the two orange tubes is the air coming from the turbo to the engine.
The compressed air has been through the turbo, through the intercooler and plumbing, before you see it there. The way the PT is laid out, the air has to loop under the engine so it can go through the intercooler. Seems like a lot of tubing, but it works nicely!
Hey thanks for the reply!, ... Bob

Ahhhh, ok I've only seen one turbo and it looked way different. You couldn't even see the cone filter it was pointed way down towards the ground. Cool, thanks

Thanks for the pic. I printed it out as a reminder to myself to look into it. I may do this mod to my PT too.

Just a thought for you snow belt residents.....since removing the seal at the back of the engine compartment sheds heat like crazy, it may be an advantage during the winter. There's probably enough heat to keep your windshield clear of snow. Hmmmm

Thanks Buck!

Keep them coming guys, Bad or good! Everyone wants to know the real world results, not just some goof-ball with a temp gauge! ... !! Who said that?!! ... } ...

I am reworking my web site, to speed things up and change the look. The pics are being compressed and should be up next week.
I'll also have some of the stock PT temps and the intake track temps posted next week. My sweet wife, hasen't let the wheels stop rolling since she got her blue PT, so I haven't been able to "hook it up!!"

New temps on stock PT will be up next week.

My wife's new PT auto, is one of the quickest I have been in, her cams must be "on the money"! ... I'll get a mileage check soon.

It's strange how there seems to be such a wide swing of mileage and performance from one PT to the other. ... That may be the next area I will look into, ... but the cam phasing is not a simple task on these engines. There may be a way to check the cam timing while running, to see how far off it is. Correcting it, will require an experienced mechanic and some special tools.
........... Hmmmmmm ....*#@!!$&*, .... well, ... that didn't last very long! I'll try to keep him in "the box"!

Later, .... Bob
