If this has been covered before i am sorry but i just got my cruiser friday and was wondering has anyone really seen any gains by adding a cold air induction system?If so which brands do you have and where and what did you pay ?

I put in a Drop in K&N filter and noticed an immediate change in throttle response. Now I up graded to the Ingen intake system cost way more that the drop in but WOW! what a difference. The engine growls now at about 4000 rpms. Most anyone can install in 5-10 minutes. Now I did replace the Ingen cone filter with the RActive filter for two reasons. One the RActive filter is chrome trimmed so it matches the intake tube. Two the front in not flat but rather has more filter surface area so it can suck down even more air. On my 5 speed it is incredible the amount of power I get out of that thing. I can now smoke the tires when laying a drag. No lie! Now I just need to upgrade the exhaust, drop a performance chip in, add the throttle spacer to create the vortex for even more power and fuel efficiency and that should hold me for a while.

As for your tire smoking performance after changing the filter -- your stock one must have been really, really dirty. I have access to a dyno, and EVERY mod I have done I have tested. On most cars, chenging the air filter is a minor upgrade. Yes there is a small benifit to the top end breathability and HP, but enough to make you able to squeal the tires? Don't think so. 1-2 HP without any other mods. Think of it this way, if you have NOT modified the intake/cams/engine displacement/forced induction then you are NOT increasing the flow through the system. Without other modifications it wont really result in much gain in HP. The problem is the average comsumer is barraged with no-name, knock off intakes that all thede guys are selling thinking that because the car is 'louder' it is making more power.... It just isnt so. Once you ahve other mods, that NEED the flow, then a good cold air intake system will make your setup roar... On a stock motor, you are just wasting coin... ![]() Just my opinion...
