Default TSB 18-0-0 very bad move

I had TSB 18-0-0 done to the computer control module. It was supposed to help with gas mileage and better pick up from a dead start with the AC on.
My PT now runs like a Ford Pinto. It fall flat on it's face from a dead stop. I find it dangerous on 2 lane highways trying to get around someone in the left lane making a turn. I have to floor the gas pedal to get it to down shift on the highway. It used to be nice and smooth accelerating and shifting.
The dealer says they can't put the original program back once it's been upgraded.
My advice DON'T LET THEM DO TSB 18-0-0 on your PT.
Anyone know of an after market chip maker???

I'll have to look into this one! I had the same thing done on my 2001 Olds, and it was able to be reverted. They had to cut all electrical generation to the computer, and then basically "reboot" the system. I can't believe that Chrysler can't do it too... with the proper mind at work. :/

Something must have gone wrong when they downloaded the update. Had mine done right after bulletin came out and had no problems at all. Definitely did not hurt performance, seemed to help, and gas mileage seemed to be slightly better. Surely if they can't go back to original configuration, they could try running the update again. Ours has been basically flawless, that is the only thing it has ever been in the shop for in almost 15 months now.

What exactly is TSB 18-0-0? I gather its a service bulletin...but what did it state? My PT sucks on acceleration also. Where can I find service bulletin info?

You can find all about TSB's at from the horse's mouth (US Gov) at the NHTSA site. Search under Trucks for the PT.

I had mine done and I didn't notice a difference either way. Maybe they downloaded the "slow-poke" Virus,,,I hear it's spreading like wildfire over at the Ford Focus plant!

Look on the ptdoityourself site; all the TSBs are described there. 18-0-0 is a fix for automatic transmission Cruisers with poor acceleration with the ac on.

I believe that's 18-18-00, not 18-0-0.
