Default Magnaflow vs. Borla Exhaust System

I spoke with our local muffler shop person who said that he would suggest installing a magnaflow system rather than the Borla system. He said it will outlast the Borla system and the sound is much better with less humm at highway speeds. This is for dual exhaust system. Anyone else had the magnaflow system installed or have comments about the two different systems? I am having the Magnaflow dual exhaust system going in the Ford F-l50 today...he suggested it over Flowmaster. Will let you know results...Thanks...

Very interesting. Who sells Magna Flow. I've been waiting for a Flowmaster system that is about to be released. The Flowmaster isn't hasn't been released yet, how can your source compare the two?

Well speaking from experience, the Borla system is made exactly for the PT Cruiser. It has a million mile warrenty made out of stainless steel. It takes about an hour to install and all you have to use is about 4 tools. All the hangers are a perfect match and you can change the spare with out any problem. I have no problem talking to my wife at 65 miles the humming is barely noticeable. And if you do some shopping you can get the system for about $400.00 plus shipping. Borla has done alot of reseach to make this system fit like a glove.

Would think that your exhaust man gets a kick-back on any sales he makes on the Magnaflow...Borla is on my shopping list and plan on installing it myself. I can't tell you if Hooker Headers are better than Hedman but had people swear by both. Check your wallet, hold you nose, jump in.

I have the Borla single exhaust on mine and I love it. When you floorboard it it sounds great, and when it shifts it sounds really cool. Once up to highway speed and no or little load the hum is very tolerable....

Besides getting the million mile (1,666,666.67 km in Canada) warranty with the Borla system, you also get a nice baseball cap with a lopsided Borla logo.

Thank you for all the comments and information. An update...just got the Ford F-l50 back from the muffler shop. It sounds great. Great take-off sound, but quiets down when reaching your speed. I think why the muffler man suggested Magnaflow is because he can install it alot cheaper than Borla. He said he would install the Magnaflow dual exhaust for $300. I think this is alot less than what Borla would be. I have to say, so far I am happy with the Magnaflow and thinking of going that way. He showed me his muffler book and it shows the set-up for the PT. I told him I did not want any humming at highway speeds. He told me Magnaflow will get better gas mileage, more power, and will get the nice sound I would be looking for. Any further thoughts? Thanks again

Default Dynomax Ultraflow SS

Installed this muffler last week . All SS with big tip, nice throaty sound under load , very low noise at cruising speeds. Cost $295 and it was a direct replacement. Local NY muffler shop charged $20 to install it --less than 15 minutes. |-)

I'm not sure what Magnaflow "exhaust system" you have; I'm assuming your shop is using Magnaflow mufflers to construct a "dual exhaust" system.

I have Magnaflow's single exhaust system that is designed for the PT. It is all stainless steel, very well made and looks great. I had a bit of droning at cruising speed (increase in sound level may be due to my JBA header) so installed another resonator and it sounds pretty sweet; good power increase.

I'm looking for a custom exhaust and have checked out several of the exhaust companies web sites. I am interested in the Magnaflow exhaust and want duals. However, I called the Magnaflow people and they could not find a dual system in their catalogs. Do you have a part number from your muffler shop mechanic?

I want a nice deep sound but not a drone at cruising speed. Keep us posted as to how your mechanic installed Magnaflow duals.
