Well, I have 36K on my PT and its time for pads and rotors ... oddly enough, the left rear rotor has a groove cut in it, but no noise coming from it .. the pads look ok externally, but I'm assuming that something is very wrong to cut that deep a groove ... anyway ... I don't see alot of discussion as to what kind of pads to get and if to replace the stock rotors with something cross-drilled and/or slotted. I've pried those beauties and they are about $90 - $100 each, so a little pricey for the commuting driving that I do (about 100 miles per day) .. unless someone knows of a cheaper supplier. Anyway ... someone give me their opinion and a website to goto to order the goodies I need. Thanks |

Hey MX --- Is the Wagner MX-841a ceramic??? Do you have the part number for the NAPA ceramic??? the Raybestos ceramic??? and which do you think is the best?
It was also suggestied that I just have the rotors turned rather than replace them at this point ... my experience with turned rotors is they warp rather quickly ... what do you think??? and if I replace, should I get OEM or something like PowerSlot??? Thanks |

I upgraded to the NAPA premium Application Engineered rotors.
They work fine. The NAPA ceramic is CMX7716 The premium NAPA pad is AE7716M The Wagner MX-841 is the top-shelf Wagner pad. Wagner manufactures the OEM pad to Mopar's specs. The MX series is a lot better. The ZX series is below the OEM pad and is sold by Mopar under the "value line" pads.

MX-5, does the GT use the same rotors and pads as the non-turbo? I know that the brake calipers are different (larger) on the GT.

OEM rotor numbers are:

Give them a year or so for the OEM to release data.
