So I guess I can say what I want if I don't "name names?" Phatdad sounds like an ignorant bigot. If anyone thinks I'm making an attack, it's not. It's an observation - read his post again. We just went thru hurricane Isabel here in Va. and my electric has been out till about an hour ago.

I can see where some people would be offended by those remarks. I use those terms myself & they have nothing to do with Japan or the Japanese people. I worked on ships in the navy & merchant marine until I retired & have nothing but the greatest respect for the Japanese people I worked with..(& played with)(shhhhh)..but... since the Honda Dream in the '60s, their machines will always be rice burners to me...& my Yanmar tractor will always be a jap. Sorry but my vocabulary & attitudes were formed mostly on ships, so I really don't give a crap if someone doesn't like the way i express myself & I'm sure that phatdad feels the same....If he had used those terms in describing a person, that would be different, but to be offended for an insult to a machine is kind of silly.
