Default My Custom Intake

Reposted from the main forum....

I finally found the parts I needed to compete my new custom air intake mod. I decided to wrap the whole airbox and the air snorkel with an engine blanket to try to reduce the heat. I taped it in place with double sided tape to hold it to the box and aluminum foil tape for the seams. Here are some pics...

After

Granted, Its not pretty, but it may work.

Its too early to say. Once the car gets used to the change, I'll let everyone know.

Hey, that looks kinda cool!!!

A great big NOS sticker on it would look scary.

Who needs NOS when you have a big fraggin HEMI??

I'll be driving through Northern Indiana in about 3 weeks. If you want, I can stop by your shop and we can do some quick temperature tests on it to see if I am doing anything good here.

Looks like a lot of work to keep the hot air that`s entering the box! Now if you had a cool air intake pick up out side the engine compartment you might be on to something the box would keep the abient air cool to the T/B, Just a thought!

It was not that much work!! It took about 1.5 - 2 hours to do. I just cut the thermal insulation to size and taped to place with exterior grade 3M double sided tape. I then sealed the edges with aluminum foil tape.

Here is a cost breakdown

one 4'x6' roll of foil backed insulation - $20
2 rolls of double sided tape $7 dollars
Aluminum foil tape. - negligable

Scaring the crap out of rice boys - PRICELESS
