Putting an aftermarket tranny cooler will void your warranty. I'm a retired Chrysler service manager. If you want to put one on wait till your out of warranty

Putting in an aftermarket tranny cooler will not void your warranty. If your transmission fails the dealer and or the manufacturer will have to prove that the aftermarket tranny cooler caused the tranny to fail.

Trust me it will void your warranty ask your dealer service manager. I spent 20 years as a service manager. There are very few things that will give you warranty problems but a cooler is one of them. The transmission is designed to operate at a certain temperature and a cooler changes that. So if you want to roll the dice it's your money

typical service manager BS. If you really spent 20 years as a service manager (with that attitude I don't doubt it) you should have been exposed to fluid breakdown data from the trans fluid industry. Unlike oil, trans fluid does not need ot warm up to be at peak performance, the cooler the better. Ah heck, I'm not even going to waste my time. At least you are no longer in that capacity...I hope.

phatdad,
Just do a search for information regarding trans fluid and temperature. Here is one quick one but there is a lot of data on the subject available on the internet

same info here

Yeah, yeah I know, you were a service manager. If we listened to every idiot we ran into in a service department we would buy every part in the parts deptment and put it on in the service department...because that is all they know...what the company tells them.

Like I said it's your money. The thing that bothers me is your making it personal by calling me an idiot. All I'm trying to do is let you know that it can be a big warranty problem and you tell me I have an altitude or do you think were all crooks. I can tell by your response how you feel about service people.

Gregs response was not that it dosent work or that it dosent help. His response was that chrysler wont pay.

I would sugest the same that he does. Call the service dept. and ask. Give a fake name if you have to. But i would beleave the service rep before anybody on line. No offense to any body!! But if you are that worried about the warrenty why would you go on somebodys advice that you have never met, and take the chance they are wrong and have to pay out of your own pocket.

Do you have an auto? I drove a intercooled turbo car (15 psi) for almost 14 years straight, including four years on the German sutobahn at high speeds, and my five-speed tranny had no problems at all. Maybe you really don't need the cooler.
