Absolutely! If it's a wrecked five-speed turbo, you definitely want both the tirbo engine, the Getrag tranny, the strenghtened CV joints, etc., out of the wreck to handle all that additional power and torque. It could be an interesting project.

I asked the dealer about me stripping the or leavin as is and he was telling me that it wouldnt make that big of a differance... not to mention the things I would have to correct before trading it in... The air ride (one of the best thing i ever did to the car) had some cutting/welding that would be somewhat difficult to reverse... Because you have to cut off the arrea on the rear end that holds your springs in place and weld on new brackets for the bags. But anyway's I do appreciate everyones feedback. I think I will go with a hahn kit afterall... I just would hate to spend 3 grand and have something internal go. When I could (if it would be an ease swop... Does not look like it is) just put in a low mile turbo engine... So is there anyone with a high mile aftermarket turbo car? Any problems? Is it safe to stay with the stock internals as long as I keep the boost at the pre set? Or would it be a better Idea to get the crane 10 cams and tensioner upgrade?
Will it ever end!!!!!!?????? LOL

My personal favorite is a Hahn turbo and a "BUILT-up" 3 speed auto with a stall converter and shift kit. These trannies are what is powering the 9 sec Neons of forward motion and Hahn sponsored cars.

Like we did with Al's Hahn project ... we found a buyer for the stock engine, .... even before the hot-rod engine was ready to go in! .... You might be out some extra cash at first, ... but finding a buyer for the next project engine is not very hard. Al's motor will be going to a fellow in OH, once it is done with the upgrades.

This way you keep driving your PT, till the engine is done. It cuts down on the "down-Time". We are deep into "down-time" ... on DaBrain's PT now, ... but we have added some interesting things to the package along the way. Some very nice coatings, ... both inside and out will be happening in the next week, ... then we can finally assemble the engine and get it back to the shop near him, to re-install.

You can build from a 2.4 Stratus or Van engine, ... it does not have to be a PT engine! (as far as the block goes)

Just some thoughts, ... doing a GT swap will be a wiring nightmare!!! ... fah-get-A-bout-it !!

For now and then fun, ... you can do the bottom end upgrade and a 75 shot of NOs and some #10 cams, ... that worked out pretty nice on KOJAK's PT.

Lightbulb CONTACT BOB STOCKUM

Buy a short block from Bob ,have him build u a motor to ship to your house or mechanic. Also buy turbo from Bob he has the best deal.DOOOOOOOOOOOOO NOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT do the upgrade without doing motor internals.Or do as I did drive car to him and get round trip plane ticks cost me only 210 round trip us air express. Whipple ,header,Carroll fuel mgnt install is not much less than turbo install and mtr upgrade.Bob take great pride in not cutting corners . From the sound of your car it is not a daily driver.,so if u can do without it I would take it to him.Bob has all the prices so call him I will not post his ph num but his email is www.b stockum.com.also to do turbo switch it would include motor, tranny, all electrics and one smart wrench. this would not be a easy swap. Any chance your going to carlise I would be happy to let u drive my STOCKUM ROCKET. also contact OC CRUIZER he has similar upgrade his car is a daily driver he must have close to 15,000 miles on his turbo motor from Bob.

If the $$$ are an issue, do it in stages like myself & a couple others are. I have done the exhaust work 1st, now working on the intake. Just got my bored TB & GT intake from BOB! Next year I will get the cams installed.

GR8FLPT,
I already have a few performance mods... such as ram air, flowmaster cat back, and a jet chip... Did you notice much improvment with the Poweraid TBS? What about the header? Even though when I boost it I will lose the money that was spent on it?
Thanks

Bob,
You, Powertrip, and MX5 are a great insperation for all of us!!! I value your advise and would like to know... What about the manifold upgrade (out of the gt). Cost, Avalibilty, and such...
Thanks

If you go to turbo, the header will go. but if you super charge, then you will keep.
I like the header, it does give me some more out of the lower RPM range. That with the MX-5 tranny mod...

The TB spacer was installed at same time as header so I'm not sure if it really helped or not, but its in for now. The GT intake & larger TB should help With the air dept. more in = more out

so in theory... more HP.

Just setting er up for the future mods, this was all I could afford this year.

LOL I can't answer another lick of this quote EXCEPT.....how to post a picture. LOL

There is a section below the "reply area" where it says "Attach file" to the left and there is a "browse" button that you click to the right. Click the Browse button, and find the file you want to attach. (There are limits on file size and on dimensions.) And then just click "submit reply" and Voila!

OR

You can upload the picture to webstorage, and then use the "IMG" option at the top of the reply area to insert the image right in the message. Then there are no restrictions.
