Thanks Bob ,you got me to rethink this deal ! You know I work in service myself and if a customer purchases an upgrade from us and we install it may raise his maintanence costs per annum ,but we don't cancel the customer service contract. How/why does DC ? I don't care if it's the norm for industry or not !

I just wanted people that thought they were going to be doing themselves a FAVOR, ... by trading or selling their non-turbo PT in on a new GT and taking the HUGE loss, ...... to LOOK at what DC is going to do to their repeate customers, ... that have sunk all kinds of $$ into their PTs and just want some more performance, ... but still would like to keep the WARRANTY!!

IF you can be happy with the GT performance and are willing to lose the $$ trading in your trusty PT, ... then you will be fine.

If you want better performance than the stock GT offers, ... then you will be giving up your warranty anyway, ... so why not keep your almost paid for PT and juice her up!!??

Their true colors are beginning to show! ... but then I knew they would sooner or later.

Not so in my case ! You I know were aware of the problems I went though with my modded car . Let me lay out some numbers here when the car had the cams ect. put in it had 37,000 miles on it that was July '02 . I bought the car with 5400 miles on it in 3/'01 . Between 7/02 and 3/03 I only put on 7400 miles due to outages /problems with the car . In addition I put between $3,000-$4,000 in parts/labor during those same 8 months. Unfortunately when I traded it in it still wasn't running the way it should have been or was capable of ! I picked up the GT, taxes ,old loan payoff everything for under $20,000 dollars . Now I have a 70,000 mile powertrain warranty . It already paid to have a clutch replaced ( recall) . Now for a lousy 20 horsepower increase I'm gonna throw away the powertrain warranty with 64,000 miles left ! I'll admit I was gonna .... then this all struck me ! The damn car has 1/3 more horsepower than a na cruiser....I have to drive it everyday and probably will have over 20,000 miles on it by year end . I got a damn service manager that probably would make sure I had no warranty...you should see them gather around my car when it goes in.....mechanics ,service advisors.....they remember the other cruiser !

Moons and moons ago, after I had my former car, an '88 Dodge Daytona Shelby Z, for a while, I purchased the Direct Connection/Mopar Performance upgrade chip for it. It was sold through MP, as I said, installed by the dealership, and my warranty was still intact. Back then, as now, the dealer had to prove that the mod caused the mechanical breakdown before they could void the warranty.

That disclaimer has been around for a while on MP parts, Bob. I've seen it years ago. Nothing new there. MP parts are mods. They are not factory upgrades (those come via recall or service bulletins, etc.) There's always a risk to putting in mods, especially engine mods. But, again, the dealer has to prove that the MP part caused the engine/system breakdown...the burden of evidence is on them as it is for an intake mod or a header mod.

For the extra power--and if you must have the extra power, can't live without it, and so on--the GT offers that with a firm warranty. If you want to mod it, just as if you want to mod your non-aspirated Cruiser, you take a chance, as Flashy did. That's the story of, that's the glory of, mods.
