Default Open element air filter installed

Well I finally broke down and did it. I bought an open element air filter and intake tube off of Ebay and installed it today. Paid a little under 40 bucks for the whole deal so I guess It wasn't too bad. had to do a little fitting to make it work but it wasn't too bad. It must make more power because it makes a lot more noise! But how sweet it is! I'd like to put a new muffler with a little more sound but am very hesitant because I don't want a fart can sound or real blatty. Any body have any thoughts? I've posted a pic but it's not that great. Thanks for reading.

I heard a lot of nice set-ups over the weekend at Cruiserfest. I have a glasspack w/ a shorty resonator. It's not that loud & no fart-can sound. Talk to your local shops & see what they recommend when you describe the tone you're looking for. They probably have PT owners willing to let you hear their set-ups too.
Your intake looks nice. I bought one off eBay myself ( had one already, but it's got a scratch & a minor cut in the silicone tubing)....still waiting for it to arrive though ...If mine comes with a tube like your I'm gonna paint it color-change. I think it's supposed to be chrome. Guess I'll see.

I LOVE my Borla 2 1/2" duals. Great sound, but it kinda lulls me to sleep on my drive from Michigan to Kentucky every 3 months. I suggest a bad a$$ sound system for the long trips.

Alan39...I had to end up switching the rubber grommets around. The one with the big hole should go where the IAT sensor goes and the smaller one goes where the PCV tube goes. I also trimmed the little lip that goes around the end. That a little soap or a drop or 2 of oil and a LOT of cussing got it in.You'll also have to trim a little bit in the inside hole of the grommet for the PCV tube. Kind or a pain but not too bad. I never really figures out what to do with the little bracket thing. I just put it in one of the clamps and let it lay where it would.

Default filter in airbox

I put an Autozone universal cone filter inside the stock airbox to help keep out hot air. Just added a piece of flex hose used for heater ducts onto the silencer and in the filter. Alan
