Exclamation Nitrous Dyno runs - lots of pics

Finally got to the brand new DynoJet Chassis dyno today!

The numbers are just about what I expected.

You can see the PT engine quits making power above 5000 RPM. This should prove that those owners who want to bypass the rev limiter are looking for power in the wrong places.

I have a few observations:

There was no ABS light, even though the front wheels were at 110mph and the rears were at zero.

The auto trans cannot get above 5800 rpm in either 1st or 2nd gear, but will run to the 6250rpm rev limiter in 3rd.

The speed limiter did not kick in before the rev limiter in 3rd gear. You only run the dyno in a 1:1 gear ratio.

The bump in torque on the 1st run was due to an unexpected downshift and the numbers are off a bit.

The air/fuel ratio ( only used on the 3rd Nitrous run ) shows that I am way rich. I will be installing a smaller fuel jet.

The air/fuel ratio on the 2nd run shows the stock engine program goes very rich to protect the engine during WOT. This was expected.

I only have a custom made cold-air intake and a Walker Dynomax single muffler.

No money was wasted on plug wires, plugs, coils, PCM upgrades, header, dual exhaust, $$$$ retail intakes, etc.....

Thanks to PTadmin, I'm using his 15inch wheels with Pirreli tires for all track events.
This leaves the junk GoodLuck LS tires for the street.

Thanks Scott!!!!

This new dyno is quite a machine!

And at only $38,000, everyone should have at least 2 of them!

That includes the $1200 air/fuel ratio tester.

That's cool MX I'd like to try my turbo and NOS on there and see what it does.

Sean,

Yes, the Nitrous was only used in run #3. The green lines are hard to see up in the text. I started graphing at about 4200rpm.

At58,

You are welcome to join us. Here's the e-mail that went out to my local club:

Hello everyone,

I'm setting up a day to get those performance minded drivers a chance to dyno the car.
This will effectively measure horsepower and torque to see what you've got under the hood.
It's time to see what the turbo, supercharged, and nitrous can do!

A friend of mine has built a new shop just down the road from me, on Bendix drive here in South Bend.
Included in the shop is a $38,000 DynoJet chassis dyno. It's computerized and fully programmable.
This is the same one used by NASCAR. It will read up to 1200 horsepower!

The sessions will consist of the setup, three pulls with cool-down time, and complete printouts of the results.
Plan on around 1 1/2 hours per car.
The cost is $75 per car for the day. This is based on 11 or more cars joining me. I'm bringing 2, and several other car clubs are invited. This should prove to be quite a fun day. If I cannot get 11 cars, the price will be $100.
I plan to have a couple cars that run 9 second 1/4 mile times at this event!

There are 2 open dates.
May 31st or June 14th.
Testing will begin around 9am.
Since it's near to my home, we can certainly make a day of it.
I have the race fuel and nitrous refills available at my home.

Please respond and let me know what date is best for you.

EDIT: June 14th is the choice for the NHRA and IHRA points chasers. There is a race in Joliet on the 31st. Looks like the 14th is going to be the day

RSVP ASAP
