Default Turbo install questions

I want to run this idea by yall and get some input. I am getting ready to install the GT turbo on my 2001. I have the manifold and will be getting the rest of the parts that I'll need for this install. All the lines and hoses and stuff I have covered. I had looked at installing a new PCM from a 2003 but I'm now leaning towards not. I plan on using a manual boost control system instead. I'm also looking at installing a one way check valve in the MAP sensor so that the PCM does not see the boost and try to lean out the mixture if I understand how the system works. The only thing I haven't got nailed down yet is how to increase the fuel pressure as boost goes up. Right now I'm in the planning stages and hope to have this done with in 2-months. Any and all input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

i think if you use a voltage clamp that you won't havet o worry about the pcm freaking out. i know the hrc kit comes with it. what it does is regulate the voltage going to the pcm so it never sees boost.

other turbo guys should be able to help you more

Default Turbo install

What type of hoses are you using to install the turbo. I did one of these installations and we are having problems with the hoses. We are also having problems with the fuel pump and regulator used. We think we have this figured out but have not made the changes yet. Are you going to rebuild the bottom end. At full boost you may break something?

you would need a rising rate fuel pres regulator,
with a new return line going into the tank,
as welll as a higher press in line fuel pump, ,
the ratio is about 8 psi fuel increas to 1 psi of boost,
, starting at 55-60, up to 100 at 5 psi,
its not perfect, as a computer monitered system, but it is dooable,
id run an egt, and adjust the fuel press accordingly,
i find that with my kit, that it goes to rich to fast,
and tends to bog once in a while, adding a small adjustable bleeder valve in the boost side, will slow the rise, idid that and it worked much better and took out the bog, ,
i have read some have the opisit problem, with it to lean around 3000 ish, so you have to see what your car needs, and tune it for such,
great luck,
id love to see pics of it,
joe
