Question Strut Brace

I am new to the FWD suspension workings.

How does the strut tower brace aid in handling?

IT is not a FWD item but a Strut suspension item. A lot of cars that are RWD have a form of them. The key is the struts not the drive style. A lot of manufactures used to have them in the larger strut cars. like caddilacs. But they did not tie the struts togather, they would go from the tower to the firewall. and somtimes from the tower to the header panel. They did not allways attatch to the strut it self as they do now, but sometimes from anyware on the tower.

What holds the suspension on a unibody is basically the sheet metal in front of the firewall. And sheet metal flexes. The strut bar adds a solid bar that will cause both strut towers to react to a bump in tandem adding to the strenth of the other strut tower to the first tower to minimize flex.

Here is one on a Camero that ties the struts togather and the fire wall. The ideal setup if it can fit.

I have the PT-Tuning Strut Tower Brace on my daily driver. It's a nice, well constructed, good looking product. On my last visit, they were experimenting with a newly designed 'brace' for the GT in addition to, an air intake system.

If you know PT-Tuning at all, they tend to fuss and fidddle around until they finally think they've gotten a new product right. Sometimes, it takes longer than expected but is usually worth the wait. I'd suggest checking with them to inquire what's going on.

I got my Freedom strut bar yesterday (non-turbo) and it's going on today after work.

Thumbs up Strut Bar

I've gotta get one, too. I'm going to add a rear sway bar too, to reduce the body lean. Gotta keep the budget squared away, but it won't be long!
at58,
I don't believe the GT needs a special strut bar. Many items will interchange on all models and the strut bar is one of those things that will go on either type. Hope this helps.

Wagonmaster is not true with strutbar.....those 3 little solenoids over on passenger side strut tower are gonna give people headaches.
