Default Turbo

I am new to this forum, but wanted to let you all know that I just completed an install of the 03 turbo on my 01 PT. What a difference in get up and go. I did not do the install myself, but if anyone is trying this type of installation and have questions I will try to assist in any way I can.

Good going! ... I had one of those very nice looking units as well. I figured with some careful shopping, not counting labor, ... a nice mild kit could be put together for around $1,250.

GT turbo and manifold .................................... $400
FMU (rising rate fuel press regulator) ........... 250
aux. fuel pump and relay .................................. 150
lines and hoses, clamps, fittings ................... 100
Air piping from turbo to TB and tubing ........... 200
Exhaust mods to fit up /possibly ..................... 50
manual boost controller, ................................... 75

I'll be interested to see what it actually took to get the system going.

Thanks for the effort!! ... Bob

Default Turbo

Bob,
I have been following your work on the turbo's for the PT Cruiser for a time now. Great job. I even gave the guy who did my turbo install your web site.
I don't have all the receipts from the install with me, but here is a partial break down of cost for the install.

Turbo & manifold $475.00
Parts $915.00
Labor $900.00
_________
Total $2,290.00

Some of the parts were ordered from Chrysler, oil & water lines(these had to be modified), the exhaust pipe from the turbo to the exhaust system, this is where I thought we would have a problem but the stock part worked! My installer was able to use my existing cold air intake and built the pipe for the turbo intake side. We used a Paxton variable rate fuel regulator and added a fuel pump. We tried a different type injector but stuck with the stock injectors. I did have to go to 93 octane. I am only running about 5-8 lbs of boost. Hope this helps.
What is the manual boost controller for on your estimate?
Henry

Did the setup include an intercooler, in the install, or the estimate?

No, there was no intercooler used in the installation or included in the estimate. As far as I know there is no intercooler on the 2003 PT turbo either. There are two lines to the turbo one for oil and another for water to cool the housing. Hope this helps.
