I am one who does a lot of research before I make a major purchase like an exhaust. I know I always appreciate reading reviews from other PT owners. I just thought I would post my review of my new BTG Catback Dual Exhaust which I got from PT Tuning about three weeks ago. I have an '02 automatic. I was not sure what to expect, except I figured it would be louder. My main concern is what a lot of PT owners have complained about with many exhaust systems, and that was the dreaded drone inside the PT cabin.
Right after the install I first drove my PT witthout the sonic venturi installed to see what it was like. I had a 2 hour drive home. I was very excited. However, there was a MASSIVE drone inside the cabin at 1500rpm and again at 3500rpm. I found myself trying to avoid running at 1500rpm and 3500rpm. I did not feel any change in performance though. I kept the venturi out for one week. I tried to become used to the duals without the venturi installed, but it was simply too intense of a droan inside the cabin at those rpm's. So after a week, I installed the venturi and man, what a difference this past week with the venturi. The droan still comes in at 1500rpm and 3500rpm but not nearly as intense. It is now a comfortable sound level inside no matter the rpm and it sitll sounds great from the outside. I love my duals! The only disappointment I have is that I felt zero change in performance, acceleration, torque or horse power regardless of whether the venturi were installed. Now I am by no means a walking Dyno, but just an average driver (well average until I put my foot on the pedal). I thought I got more of a performance improvement in the upper 3000 rpm range with my K&N FIPK which I have had for 6 months now, than I got with the exhaust. Either way, the exhaust and the FIPK were worth it and PT Tuning was great throughout the entire sale and install of the exhaust. |

PT Blueman is right! on a PT the exhaust is not a bottleneck for flow. The stock can flow quite efficiently even at redline. mabie 3-5 hp would be alll you can get. I have the BTG Axel back, it is slightly less restrictive as it has no resonator in the mid pipe and does not have a Y in the pipe to cause turbulence, and I saw very little change.
Mine will be silent at 3500, but at 3000 it will rattle the case for my radio faceplate in the door pocket!! That is why the wife is making me take it off. The noise dose'nt bother me. Shoot... for a few years my daily driver was a pro-street S blazer with a 355 and single chamber flowmasters. Needless to say the radio did not get used to much.

PT Blueman,
Are my eyes decieving me, or are your dual outlets off centered? It appears the driver's side is just to the inside of the backup light and the passenger side is directly under the backup light. I am quite anal about such things Hey I'm German....sue me! ![]() Which system do you have?
