Question Timing Belt Replacement Procedure?

I have 2001 PT Cuiser with 80,000 miles on the odometer. I've heard that changing the timing belt can be quite a task, and yet I have also read that many have installed new cams without any mention of the timing belt nightmare. Does anybody have a copy of the replacement procedure that they could email or fax to me?

Thanks in Advance!

If you plan on doing the procedure yourself that says you probably do and will do a lot of work on this car yourself. If that is the case you must invest in the FSM (factory service manual). It is invaluable.

It's a belt and changing it is not a easy task unless you're an experienced "shadetree" mechanic or pro ! You have to do a "lot" of work just to get to it ,including loosening motor mount, removing crankshaft external balancer and jacking engine up !

Your dealer has the 2003 service manual on CD if you want it.

Here's an excerpt:

TURBOCHARGER
DESCRIPTION
CAUTION: The turbocharger is a performance part
and must not be tampered with. Tampering with the
wastegate components can reduce durability by
increasing cylinder pressure and thermal loading
due to incorrect inlet and exhaust manifold pressure.
Poor fuel economy and failure to meet regulatory
emissions laws may result. Increasing the
turbocharger boost WILL NOT increase engine
power.
The turbocharger is an exhaust-driven supercharger
which increases the pressure and density of
the air entering the engine. With the increase of air
entering the engine, more fuel can be injected into
the cylinders, which creates more power during combustion.
The turbocharger assembly consists of four (4)
major component systems (Fig. 18):
² Turbine section
² Compressor section
² Bearing housing
² Wastegate

It's an Adobe Acrobat .pdf file.
The whole CD is only 65meg.

Yes.

Page 254 of the 2001 owners manual list the interval at 120,000 miles, 192,000km.

The interval is the same for schedule A or B.

Ah - was referring to the 2003 turbo version of the PT, rather than the Turbo unit specifically.

Do you have the printed manual? Are any pictures in it in color? I'm going to either buy the CD or the printed manuals... CD is preferable, I can print out whatever I need but don't have easy access to a high quality color laser printer.
