Does anyone have a cure for wheel hop in the PT?

Does anyone make slicks for front drive?

Shutting off traction control hurts launch times unless you have so much power traction control does nothing anyways. Traction control prevents spin...

I had TERRIBLE wheel hop with the OEM 205 Goodyears.

After changing to 225 Dunlops (SP2 compund) & 7" wide wheels, the wheel hop is very minimal & dry traction improved quite a bit.

The Dunlops seem to break loose a little easier on initial "shock" , but have a faster "recovery" after about 1/2 to 1 second into the clutch release/wheelspin period in First Gear.

Guess this is due to both sidewall design and wider tread width factors.

Tranny here is 5-Speed and Tire Pressure is 35psi. for "reference".

PS: Howell Automotive has a Stiffer Bobble Strut that may fit the PT & Forward Motion Website has quite a few items geared to Mopar FWD drag racers. I plan to research the "Wheel Hop" issue futher after I add NO2, but am satisfied for the moment with the tire /rim change.

Thumbs up

KR4MC Stweve..good info..just got "BBOPNPT" low end upgrade & Sportsman NOS almost finished. Plan to do 1/4 this Spring when the "SNOW" clears.

I have been researching what size rims to use & tires..thanks..I am going to try the Dunlop 16" 225.on 7" rims.

Stiffer shocks should help also. Maybe Ram can test his SC cruiser now that he has installed the KYBs to check this out!
