Default the road to 205 hp

I'm starting down that road to +200 hp. so far I have the BTG dual exhaust (+5.5hp increase they say).
I've ordered a AFX under drive pulley
Plan on putting the hedman header & some sort of new intake in.
Also plan on new plugs, wires & possible ignition swap. This should get me close to 170-180 hp I figure

Kenne bell update for car CPU.

what am I missing till I have to open er up?

trying to go as far as I can with "simple" bolt on perforance add ons.

Went with BTG cause wife would skin me if I get too much louder. I know I should swap exhaust for more performance.

Any thoughts out there on losing the cat converter? We don't have smog testing here anymore

Turbo is out of budget right now.
Nitrous is tempting, but would like more scoot for daily driving & nitrous will not do for that.

I read elsewhere about the weight issue, would lighter wheels help?

Or am I just dreaming

I wouldn't recommend losing the cat-converter, whether you have smog testing or not. The car is designed to use it...it can cause damage. Find a high-flow cat-converter if you want better flow.

Less weight will always help in making your 0-60/ET times go down but you were talking about getting to 200+ HP. Less weight doesn't help HP. But when yo do try the 0-60 test, take out the back seats, and put the wife on the bleachers taking pics. To answer your question, lighter wheels will help with 0-60 times as I said and better steering response. As far as the cat converter, you'll probably have to do that yourself. HUGH fine for anyone caught taking off the coverter, maybe even loss of licence of a shop that would do the work. There are less restrictive converter's that you can buy, and that would be the only legal way to do it.

The link below is from another forum. It seems to be a fairly acurate experience of a PT owner trying to accomplish the same thing. The results are very interesting:

Well I followed some of the links to Bstockum's site & around from there. What a learning experience it was

I see I am on a long road now to get real HP #'s.

the blackdog site was simply amazing

I was just drooling... anything like that for the PT yet. Turbo is still too much for my wallet. If I had that kind of money I would have bought a new GT. But since I got my 01 used, I did well enough in the deal to be able to afford some of the upgrades I am looking at now.

the real question is what do I do next as a step by step upgrade without having to go backwards too much. budget is tight but I think I can reach 180 hp before the year is out (budget permitting)

I figured the exhaust was the best looks/ performance upgrade to start with. I like the sound of the duals, & the look even better.

where to next oh PT guru's out there

Thx

Smile Does changing the headers really help alot???

I have the Mopar Performance DTM Style cat-back exhaust, and the Air Force One Chrome intake, I am thinking added a set of Headers, but am unsure if it will really help that much. Anyone out there that has done it, does it make a big improvement?? Also what is the best breand out there, Borla, JBA, Hedman?? I have heard good and bad things about some of them... Any Thoughts or ideas would be helpful....

Do these modifications void the warranty?

Remember, although a seemingly great car, it is a Chrysler. Under normal conditions, I give the tranny 3 years before it goes out (speaking from too much experience). Is the performance gain that much compared to the cost of repairs?

My friend who manages a tranny shop never has a shortage on Neons in the repair bay.
