Remember, although a seemingly great car, it is a Chrysler. Under normal conditions, I give the tranny 3 years before it goes out (speaking from too much experience). Is the performance gain that much compared to the cost of repairs?

My friend who manages a tranny shop never has a shortage on Neons in the repair bay.
The tranny seems to be farily stong so far. I am running all kinds of torque through the stock 5 speed (330 ft/lbs!) and haven't had any quirp or failure yet.

True the Carb spacers used in racing help them because their fuel sits in the fuel bowl heating up and the card is a precise tool of mixing the fuel so maintaining heat in a card is essential. In a Fuel injected car you want to keep the inlet air temp sensor cool, or the ir going by it, so many people move it. Ours is a air mass/air temp sensor if Im not mistaken so moving it will cause some problems and adjustments. I might be wrong on this though

In your quest for power, ... don't discount the importace of a stronger connecting rod!! You think a turbo set-up is expensive?! ..... Try replacing the blown up engine!!

I have machined a new set of PT pistons for wrist pin keepers and hooked them up to a set of T-2 turbo rods. These will slip right into the stock engine. If anyone is interested in this set, .... let me know!

Steve Kalesia his a Neon swap guy, that has put a 2.4 in his Neon and so far is making over 220 WHP and has run a 12.90 ET at the strip!! This set was done for him, but he wanted to go the extra $$ to get a set of my 10.5:1 Wisecos, since he will be "spraying" the engine next year and needs the strongest thing he can get / ... for the money! He will still be using my T-2 rods with ARP bolts and Wiseco pistons. So your Quest for 200 + all motor is within reach, .... but you need to build it strong first!!

Just my thoughts on 200 H.P.

2 words. Nitrous Oxide....

Bob is correct on the bottom end build up.

Bstockum, I checked your site & links out. I must say I am very impressed!

I guess for the time being I'm gonna have to use bolt on performance till I can spring to have the motor torn down. I do see what you are saying & I am with you on that. I guess you really can't cheat the real #'s by buying a sales pitch.

If all those "gimmicks" out there did what they all claim, we'd all have 250hp beasts. With the amount of money I'd need to spend to get where I'd really like to see my ride at... It's almost cheaper in the long run (& I'd still have a warranty) to buy a Turbo.

The only problem with that is I kind of like my creature comforts of my Limited as opposed to a base GT.

I swung by the dealer today & noticed that a base turbo was only $200 more than a 02 Dream Cruiser. How's that for ironic!

Luxury vs. Performance... which do I choose?????

To get both would be almost $30K from them.

Well in the long run I am having fun even if I am sitting still

Thanks & keep posting the advice, we are all on a learning curve

And think of all the things you would miss if you bought a new Turbo:
* folding mirrors
* seat-back nets
* tilting head-rests
* rear-cargo compartment lid
* suede inserts in seat
* color-matched dash inserts
* contoured bumpers
* front seat lower trim panels
* and a 5 Speed!

Ok, so there are many benifits to the new Turbo, but heck, you can make the old Limited as fast as you can afford!

I'm probably wrong here (PoweTrip does have a nice looking ride) but I'd like to think it added something (besides $$ to PowerAid in my case). Although, I don't have a dyno to put the car on, it did seem to respond better in the 3000-4000 rpm range. Also have been getting slightly better mileage with it, so that to me is a bonus (Heck I'll take 1mpg better).
