Question Exhaust Question - Need advice

I've had the Flowmaster 2 chamber installed on my PT for about a year now. At first the 3000 rpm drone was TOO stinkin loud. So I had the resonator pipe added and it made the difference. Until, I went on a long drive as soon as I reach between 60 and 70 and the rpm hits 3000-3200 the dreaded drone comes back. What I'm looking for is a muffler that sounds good but "outside the cab". Yea I know if you have the windows down and radio on "you can hardly notice" but there are times I want the Zen moment. So I'm looking for my next exhaust system. I want it to sound good and have the cool blub, blub, blub when ya let off the gas but I also want quite when I put up the windows. So gang please tell me what your experience is in this and what you 've found to be the best. Thanks in advance.

Cool Zero,

I also had the same problems as you with an aftermarket PaceSetter exhaust. I added the resinator too. The other things I did were: put the car on the rack, take the spare tire off, and cover as much of the under carrage around the rear of the car with a thick rust proofing spray. I also keep the rear shelf in the lowest position (next to the floor). The air space between the floor and the raised shelf acts like a boom box. I've heard of people taking up the rear carpet and adding sound absorbing material but I haven't had to go that far yet.

I am pleased with the sound and quality of the Bassani, but I feel the BTG is a better design for duals. If you're going single, dunno from experience.

Ive added the dyno matt to the whole rear of the car and it still is an issue.

The longer I have the Magnaflow single exhaust on my PT the more I want to rid myself of the dreaded 3000 RPM drone, also. When I first put it on, I thought it sounded really cool, and it didn't bother me that much, but now that it's been on awhile..I miss the quiet ride while driving at freeway speeds. Love the sound cruisin' around town and going thru the gears, but it does get tiresome after a trip of anything over 50 miles. Hard to have a conversation even..cause it's right at that speed where it's the loudest. Can't have our cake and eat it too, I guess...

I don't have the American Thunder (and this just might be what's wrong) we just used a Camaro delta series Flowmaster. Now I have to ask you this because I see folks say it all the time. "really not that loud inside" can you have a conversation without raising your voice or is it like me. Well if I open the windows and turn up the radio heck I can't even hear the muffler. lol

2-tone you hit the nail on the head. Great for around the neighborhood but you go on a 300 mile trip forget it unless you run it at 85 + then the drone drops off completely only becuase your now running at 4000 rpms.

Dude I want my cake and eat it too

you can hear it inside, but you don't have to raise your voice at all. on the highway i can barely tell it is there. that is until you hit the gas. it is a very good system. you can hear it inside when the revs get high, but not really a drone. i reccomend it.

Thanks rockstr3! Now I have two questions. Did you have to take off the spare to do the duals and how much did it $$$.
