I want it to sound good and have the cool blub, blub, blub when ya let off the gas but I also want quite when I put up the windows. So gang please tell me what your experience is in this and what you 've found to be the best. Thanks in advance.

I have a single exhaust and I put on a Dynomax Walker Super Turbo muffler ( #17732 ). The sound is cool when you wind it out, not loud on the freeway with the windows up and does make that cool blub, blub, blub sound when I let off the gas and especially when the automatic shifts gears.

We put Borla duals on Paps Pt. Was loud at first. Put it on the rack Friday and found a couple exhaust leaks. Sounds alot quieter inside and sounds good with the windows down. You moght justhave a little exhaust leak. I'd check for that before switching exhaust.

I have the same problem with my BTG dual system still trying some options they have these venturis/baffles that make them more quit but with the baffles it is still a loud noise inside de cab.
From Pt-Tuning they advice me to narrow the baffles by hitting the end that is most far in the system with a hammer.
I have done that and make the inlet 50% smaller. I must admit that the sound is much more silence now but on cruisin speed still a litle to loud. They sent me an extra set next week someone will put a smaller piece at the inlet of the venturie for me. Because i think a round exit is better than the one i hammered on. If the smaller thinf they make for me don't work i will try to put some absorbing material oround the baffles.

the looks of the BTG are great

Narrow the inlet down gave me back some backpressure to my car. Don't mind it now he is stronger again in lower RPM's

I went by the ole muffler shop yesterday. I happen to be running a 50 series Flowmaster which on the manufacturer description tells of internal resonance at "certain" rpms as being loud in the cab. So, I'm thinking about going to the 30 series which has an additional chamber and is described as having the Flowmaster sound when winding out the engine but sigificantly reduces internal cab noise when on the highway. I want to thank all of you for the great tips and advice that I can always count on here at the PTE. Also I'm change the tip to the Bola 4" round. I think they look pretty cool. Hey I also saw this wild looking muffler from Ractive that as a small turbine "looking" deal built into the tip. Anyone seen this?

I read somewhere on the net awhile back about "exhaust resonance ( or droning).

It was an automotive engineering artical about exhaust.

It stated that this effect is a combination of engine rpm, pipe diameter & length.

The artical stated that the resonance point will most be affected by changing the length of the piping from exhaust port to exit tip.

By using the formula supplied, you could legthen (or shorten this distance 16 inches & move the resonance from 3000 to 5500 rpm.

This equates to 3 1/4 to 3/34 acoustic wavelenths or something like that.

So if I were to reposition the muffler just after the resonator right before the spare or even put it where the spare is then it would have the distance. Hmmm, very cool indeed. Something more to think about. Thanks CZ

I have Borla duals. It sounds great going through gears, especially with the windows down. On the highway, I can hear the droning but it is not loud enough to interfere with music or conversation inside. I don't even notice it now. It'd have to be pretty loud to make me raise my voice to go over it...
