My PT is an all weather car also (& no garage). I was hoping to use the A2's through the winter, without buying snow tires. I bought the A2's from Tirerack.com because they had the best snow rating for tires in their class.

I recently had a chance to "field test" my Sport A2's in mud. I was parked at a remote movie site, a former cornfield just 48 hrs previous, and the remains of Tropical storm Isadore started dumping rain on us. Shooting wrapped up three hours after the rain began and the parking area was a muddy free-for-all. Driving in mud is very similar to driving in winter slush conditions- if your municipality only throws down salt without plowing first then this post is relevant to you. Don't depend on the Dunlop Sport A2's to do well in slush- the tread voids just slick over as they fill up. Yeah, they got me out of the corn field, but that was only after some strategic use of the stray grass that was scattered throughout the field and a lot of pre-mature upshifting to limit torque. Even with traction control it was tricky going.
Most of my dangerous winter driving is done on ice and slush- dry, cold snow is relatively easy to drive on unless your tires are bald. I would not recommend these tires for slush duty at all.
