Question Superchargers: Kenne Belle vs. Whipple

Howdy folks, another question to throw out for ya's. Which of the two Superchargers is the better deal? I have seen the Whipple bein sold at alot more "outlets" than the Kenne. Anyone got either and what might be the pros/cons? I dont' know much about SC's, but I am saving up for one so this will help in my decision. Just wanna know which one to get when I have the cash. Thanks a bunch folks..! I will post some pics of my ride when I get a chance so you can check out what I've done so far and give me your input.

Eddie

So far as I've seen, the Whipple costs less than the Kenne Bell SC. I don't have either and haven't driven a Cruiser with either so would not know more about them.

The Kenne Bell has not been released yet. It was supposed to be available in Jan. They then postponed, and said "probably another 2 months". Now, they are saying 60-90 days (as of last week when I contacted them).
I will be using the Kenne Bell (if it ever comes out). There are a few things I like about it's design.
1. It is not mounted on the head as is the Whipple. It is mounted more toward the firewall. This allows for the plumbing to be routed through an optional intercooler then to the head. I can't ee how it would be possible to to intercool the Whipple.
2. It comes with a seperate computer that will control not only fuel and spark management, and an auxiliary injector (for added fuel), but will be programed to firm up the shifts in the Auto tranny.
3. The Kenne Bell will also provide larger injectors for use with higher boost kits. As far as I know Whipple does not offer any upgrades. What you purchase is what you get. No boost upgrades no intercooler.

I still think Whipple has a great product and if you think you will be happy with the advertised gains then go for it.

I will be waiting for the KB. I want to try somthing a little different. In the meantime, I (with the help and expertise of Bob Stockum), am building a high performance engine that will be able to handle the addded power. Sushi rolls anyone?

You may want to research the Jackson Racing S/C. They are in final development.
I have installed Jackson's 'charger's in my own cars and believe them to be top-shelf.

If I get one, it'll be from Oscar Jackson and purchased through MOSS ( www.cruiserbits.com ) because of Keith in their tech svc dept.

Talking Whipple vs. Kenne (part 2)

Thanks for the response guys. I will be goin with the Whipple as soon as I get the other 1/2 of the cash saved up. Now, one more quesion...do I need to purchase any type of gauges ? I think it'll be good to know what's goin on in the engine. If so, what gauges would be ideal? How 'bout the Wildfire Fuel management system? Would it be a good investment ? If so, what are the benefits? THanks a bunch again...! You guys rock!

You might want a boost gauge and possibly a gauge to show the fuel pressure if you're getting the new fuel management system.

Default Whipple Supercharger

Hi Eddie,

Hope you scrape the other half of your bucks together real soon cuz you're gonna really enjoy cruising with a Whipple SC. I have one on my 02...just love it! You have to run premium gas and can expect a drop in gas mileage but what the heck, fun is fun! No problem moving in/out of traffic.

You can add gauges for 'show' but not required. The SC kit includes a warning light that is mounted on the steering wheel console. In my opinion, the Supercharger needs to be installed by someone who really knows what they are doing. Good luck.
