The Neon SRT-4 torque struts also fit the PT, both turbo and non turbo. This place sells better filled ones for $69. Look for them under Neon SRT-4 parts. I used them on my '03 GT and they worked great.....The transmission mount for the PT and Neon SRT-4 are different.

I posted the linky in the other thread you had about mounts and inserts but here ya go again. Its ok it happnes

SRT4(neon) and PT Cruiser(all PT's) use the same engine mounts/struts. Trans yes they are different.

Modern Performance Racing Products

And here is the linky to the other thread. So we don't have to repost everything..
Motor Mounts

When you call to order ask for the SRT4(neon) ones and tell them Street or Race version. Its different hardness of the inserts, both will be an improvement over stock but Street if you don't like vibration or are not going for power mods. They are very nice on the phone @ Modern Performance, I've ordered a bunch of these from them. They will take care of ya.

If your OEM mounts are toast these will not work for ya and you will have to get new mounts before inserts. Like if they are twisted, broken well you get the idea...

No the struts are not broken or twisted etc. only the rubber is broken down and not supporting like they should. how do the inserts hold up compared to complete strut replacement? one site has the upper and lower strut complete and the other has inserts. i have replaced lots of engine mounts in my life and they were all front engine rear drive, chev v-8 etc. they never had struts..

I know what you mean you are used the pedestal type mounts in big V8 cars and trucks yeah those are motor mounts, well in the PT they are just a different style but they do the same thing. Hope that helps it make sense and why the terms are tossed around so much.

The inserts don't break down like the rubber does since they are poly. They add stiffness to the rubber that is there, taking out some of the flex that the OEM mount/strut has.

Hardness scale:
Solid mounts = metal bars with no cushion of anykind
Filled mounts = poly filled or other fill to make it pretty close to solid
Mounts+ Inserts = OEM mounts with an insert to beef up the stiffness in controled amounts.
OEM mounts = plain old OEM rubber soft and comfy but wears. Perfect for an insert to beef up where it is starting to wear extend the life of what is is in there.
Here are some pics of my old Mounts, the shorty is the top PT mount that was filled by Deyeme Racing and my OEM lower. I replaced these in my GT with a matched filled set. In my N/A PT i have inserts.

Upper and lower

Ugly lower with insert about to go in. Not broken just worn.

How the insert goes into the lower mount/strut.

I wouldn't expect any trouble from them at this age and for another couple of years. Then I would add a street insert, just to keep them at stocker levels for many years to come. My N/A at 7 years was starting to go soft so I put the inserts in and it cleaned up some of the slop that I was feeling when I hard launched the car.

Ok , i see how the insert goes in but i dont understand how it stays in as it isnt bonded to the metal strut, it just slips in from what i see and relies on the old rubber in the mount to stay in. right now i can move my mount in and out over the rubber like it is broken loose and just sitting in there being held by the bolt.

Insert is a pressure fit and a washer that holds it all together, when its all bolted together it can't slip out. If you can wiggle your mount by hand without much pressure to do it, while its bolted in the car I would look for a new mount. My ugly mount was still intact, everything still attached like it should be, just a bit deformed from the un-matched upper. If the rubber is no longer attached yeah its time for new OEM piece or a filled piece.

But if you can just basically touch it and it moves - not a good sign.

schucks/kragen auto has a stout OEM replacement mount, it actually has more rubber than the OEM mounts do, that if you wanted to put inserts in you would have to cut away some of the rubber not just the overwebbing to get the insert in there.
