Default Noticed something today...

On 2008 PT's. Looking at the 08's on a local lot I noticed something odd on the 2 base (LX) models. On the back they each had a street cruiser badge. One was red and the other was white. The badges were both the same, white background with silver lettering. They weren't color matched like the previous street or dream cruisers. Has anyone else noticed this on 08's at local lots? To me if this is something Chrysler is doing, they are taking away the special meaning the previous street cruisers had.

The "special" Street Cruiser for 2008 was the Sunset Boulevard Edition which has the sunroof, sunscreen glass, bright door sills, 16" chrome clad wheels, chrome door lock knobs, chrome cup holder console trim, and sunset crystal pearl paint. There were only 500 built. The rear Street Cruiser Badge was sunset crystal and chrome.

Chrysler has also added a new "Street Cruiser Value Package" to it's LX models. The $1770 equipment has a $995 discount and includes the same equipment except no sunroof. It's available in black, cool vanilla, inferno red, silver steel metallic, stone white and surf blue.

Around here I notice most newer cruisers have NO tint in the windows. Not sure I like that look...probably because I'm used to seeing almost all of them with the tint.

I'll have to keep my eye out for the new badging on the '08, see how many I see around. That was a good catch, BTW! I used to know every color, edition, etc. I've lost track these days...

We drove around the back of the cars first and it just caught my eye. I didn't notice it on the white one at first. Couldn't Chrysler come up with something different to help sell the LX, like say, A PANEL??

I'm for anything that will increase sales, and maybe keep the PT around for a few more years...

Not if means leaving the PT in the "bargin bucket rental car" it is now. Its just a shame that is what the PT has become. I would rather it die with some pride than live on as a "K" car..

Actually they've almost completely stopped rental production. I believe sales are headed to about 40k this year - which is still more than original 2001 projections!

What helps the PT now is they can switch from building Journeys to building PTs with no time delay. If the Journey takes off and they need the capacity, it might be curtains sooner. But if it doesn't, then...maybe it can hang around a little.

2009 is probably it though.

My '02 came with no tinting - when they said it was a base model, they meant it. I had the windows tinted by a local shop a year after purchase.
