I have read in other places on the internet where people are stating the 2.4 engine in the PT Cruiser is of Mitsubishi origin / descent, and that is the reason why the engines last far above 100,000 miles.
Can anyone confirm this? This information was mostly found today after reading the blogs on AOL. ![]()

I had never heard that on the forums...but one lady mentioned it to me years ago when she came over to look at my PT. I thought she was nuts at the time. Hmmm, maybe not!

She's nuts. The 2.4 is NOT a Mistu motor, nope, zero, nada, nothing Mitsu about it. The PT's 2.4 is based on the Chrysler 2.0 motor. Linky It has nothing to with with Mitsu or the 2.4 'world engine' in the Caliber, et al (which is not a "Hyundai engine", it was co developed by Chrysler/Hyundai/Mitsu). Linky

And if you read anywhere that the Hybrid system in the Durango is GM's system, that is a load as well. Chrysler co-developed that as well with GM and I believe BMW.

Well, they used a lot. The VW engine was a 1.7, they also used a 1.6 that I believe was a Peugot motor in that car. They also used a Mitsu 2.5L V6 that was related to the Mitsu 3.0. And of course the 2.6 Mitsu motor used in the late 70s/early 80s that is generally unloved.
Mitsu figured out the valve guide issue in the early 90s. That was an unfortunate problem because it was so visible; the motor itself was very strong. It can get confusing. There was a 2.5L 4cyl used in Jeeps that had zero to do with the 2.5 that was used in the cars. Interesting trivia: The 1.8L used in the Mini is a derivitave of the Chrysler 2.0.
