Default Mitsubishi engine?

I have read in other places on the internet where people are stating the 2.4 engine in the PT Cruiser is of Mitsubishi origin / descent, and that is the reason why the engines last far above 100,000 miles.

Can anyone confirm this?

This information was mostly found today after reading the blogs on AOL.
