Rach,
I completly agree with you...some of those that put down our cars are just jealous and put us down because of it...I find the majority still comment on how much they like them...We hardly go anywhere that we don't get compliments on our GT. Just yesterday my wife went to K-Mart and her sister was waiting in the car for her...Someone came up to the window and said how much they liked the car...Then, a couple of weeks ago we took a trip to Medford, OR. and I don't know where it happened but, someone stomped their big number nine boot into the front of the GT....left there boot print and tore off some of the paint...that's what upsets me....We had some one kick the drivers door and someone took a marker and scrolled the left front fender. I would never do that to anyones car...but, there are some real jerks out there....Too Bad! On a mission? Yes! just to keep my PT looking good... PTpreacher

2_2 Cool mentioned the "rock star" thing. I mentioned we rented the Cruiser one weekend while waiting for ours. I'd promised some friends that we'd take the new Cruiser to the inaugural Formula 1 race in Indianapolis in 2000 (we were living in Dayton, OH at the time). Well, thanks to allocation (another evil word) I was not even half-way through my wait when September rolled around.
So, we rented the Cruiser that weekend, and we drove to the F1 race. Now, race events bring out the car nuts anyway. Usually you can spot some pretty exotic stuff in and around the track on race day. We had more people boxing us in on the highway to get a look and gaping at us near the track than you'd ever believe. It was cool!

"PtPreacher" hah just by the name, I guess that embodies everything I was asking.
Now I just need the price of the used convertibles to come down so I can get my wife one :O It's her favorite convertible overall.Hah good to hear Luvy. My wife rolls her eyes when I talk chrome or going to the carwash, but she certainly admires how sleek it looks from time to time, even as last weekend she noted after giving me a hard time, walking twords it after leaving a resteraunt, after a few glasses of wine, as the sun was setting, PT freshly cleaned and shiny :O "it looks like something they would have on Top Gear" (closet fan? get her a convertible!) Mine is an 04 by the way, with 96k after 3 years ownership, got it at 29k, and planning my next add on when I get a chance.. hmmmm

Ah, Top Gear. My new obsession! Never saw it till recently & I was an instant fan. You gotta luv watching them burn thru that track at top speed in those exotics. My first episode was the lambo ....mmm... awesome!
Get your wife a 'vert. THEN you'll have to polish hers up too. More chrome bits to purchase too. maybe then she'll be "addicted" & understand... lol My daughter hates the PT, my hubby is Ok with it, he just wishes that I could still do most of my mods myself. He just spent 3 10 hour days this past weekend getting my interior finished before he goes in for surgery. Now THAT is love. ![]()

TreeGlum,
We love our pt, We are working on our 2nd one...the first one was an 02 Touring (Patriot Blue) On May 14th. (Our 48th. Wedding Anniversary) Yes, I robbed the cradle...she was 17 and I was 19. Anyway we went down to Tracy, Ca. and bought this 06 GT. It was a hold over from 06 we bought it in 07 only had 13 miles on it...It is loaded and has all the options. We love it! The picture in my signature looks pretty much like it...even shows some of the Mods that have been added. And I guess I am a pretty good PT preacher...I have convinced three other people to buy one... But, I really am a preacher, I have pestered two churches and was an associate pastor at another one. I tell people that I pester them until I can pastor them. LOL Have Pastored this church here in McKinleyville, Ca. now for 15 years. Before going into the Ministry I managed Auto Parts stores. Have managed 5 stores. (Don't have to wonder about my interest in cars) Attended High School in the 50's. My first car was a 1947 Ford Coupe, Had a 1950 Chev. Torpedo back with an Olds engine, and a full tuck and roll interior. Back when we cruised the local drive-ins. (The ones with the waitresses on roller skates) We cleaned and worked on our cars all week so we could cruise on the weekends..(Great times) I guess you could say that I am just an old hot rodder..Once bitten it's hard to get over!![]()

Ahh great info PTPestor
love learning about people. I actualy still have a drive-in less than a half a mile form me (in the central Mass area), been rumored to be closing for 3 years but it's opening again this month, No roller skating waitresses though! the torn up pavement would wreak havoc with their insurance rates! ![]() And yes 2Coolio, from a husband that knows the deal, good for him and goodluck for his surgery ![]()

Mine's a Geezer Magnet. Any old fart within half a block wants to know where I got the whitewalls. But as Bosch points out, the most fun is driving a sleeper & beating up on cars that are supposed to be much faster... especially as a geezer.

It's all true. We still get looks and comments on our 3 PT's. I've had 3 people in the last couple of months look at the convertible, and say "I didn't know they made a convertible." I want to ask which rock they just crawled out from under, but I suppose not everybody is as obsessed as I (we) are. And the advertising has never been strong on the PT.
If you think having to clean one Cruiser is work, try keeping up with 3. ![]() Don't forget to mark you calendars so you can properly celebrate your car's birthday. Now I don't just mean the "anniversary" of when you got together, but the actual build date. It's easy to find if you don't already know... On the door sticker at the top there's the DATE OF MFG 3-03 which indicates March of 2003. BUT, on the bottom of the sticker check the MDH number. This is Month, Day, and Hour of manufacture. So a number like 032711 would indicate March 27 at 11:00 a.m. was when your little beauty rolled off the line. In any event it's a good excuse for cake and ice cream... ![]()
