Default Let our voices be heard - next PT Cruiser

http://ptenthusiasts.org/content/view/71/2/

That is the post I just made to the PTE front page...it appears that the latest rumors have some good and bad news for us PT folks.

Good:
  • New PT as a 2010 model
  • Based on the new JS Sebring chassis so a V-6 is almost certain
  • Shared platform with a Dodge, which would allow higher volumes which would give Chrysler more resources to pour into PT development
Bad:
  • Non-retro styling
  • Possible name change (PV Cruiser, PZ Cruiser, or some completely non PT Cruiser name is possible)
  • Did I mention non-retro styling?
So, I think we need to let our voices be heard.

I'm sure Chrysler's product planners check the online communities from time to time, so I'll post a poll here for you all to put in your vote. Also, I'd suggest you all visit Chrysler.com and use their 'contact us' (look toward the bottom of the page) and let them know, in no uncertain terms how important the retro styling of the PT Cruiser is to you and how it would impact your willingness to buy the next version of the PT Cruiser.

With 2 years between now and the launch, there is still time to let them know and for them to make changes...let's get on it!

Voted for my choiceS

On a similar note, I posted a complaint to Chrysler on their Media Blogs site about the fact that Chevy came out with an HHR PANEL.
I copied some of your points you posted on your Home page Scott and these are the replies I got from Chrysler:

We've always maintained a healthy dose of "educated" with our "risk" - yes sometimes you need to go with the gut. But in these trying financial times in particular, one must be smart with how much risk is possible as 'countless' pitfalls remain. It never fails with our designs that there are people who say "I'll write you a check right now for one of those" when we do a concept. In some cases like the Dodge Challenger or the PT or the Pacifica or the Crossfire or the Vipe or variations of the 300C or (well, you can see where this is going with our high percentage of actually building concepts) - it makes sense to move forward. In other cases, it's more of a "there's a time and place" and factors of capacity, materials, market indicators etc. are the more driving force.

If the HHR Panel shows to me a mild success, maybe a Jeep Patroit Panel could be just as successful?

Cold weather we're having, isn't it? A bit unusual for this time of year. Not to change the subject or anything, but the Chrysler Group will certainly continue to watch the market for opportunities that make sense. Nothing along the lines of a Patriot Panel truck have been discussed to date.

You got to be kidding!!!!! Come on DC....why give up on the concept of the PT, when it is your most successful model to sell!!!! Nobody is buying Jeeps anymore.

It seems more we scream and holler, the more they back away.

Turbo,

The person writing that comment is just a reporter. The other two comments (#2. and # 4.) are from someone at The Chrysler Group so it may not mean anything.

If you read the last post (#4)...the Chrysler guy says that NO Such talk about the Patrio Panel have been discussed TO DATE. Now does that mean that they may well talk about it in the near future? I guess we shall see.

For argument sake, I hope DC does not give up on the concept of the PT. I am still hoping that the concept of the Pronto will become reality, but I am not holding my breath. If it does become a reality, I will be the first in line to buy one!

Let me ask you this, have you seen a new Jeep on the road lately? I haven't.
