I am asking this question, because I do not live in extreme cold weather. What happens if you do not store the PT with tank not full?

That was the reason for my question in the first place, while I dont refill before the 1/4 mark I did always fill before the light come on. Now it comes on way earlier then the red area and its a bit annoying actually.

As far as miles goes, mine came on today around 275 miles on the odometer.
That puts the needle slightly above the red line.
Filled it with 11.9 gal. of gas. Thus leaving 3.1 gal. remaining in the tank.

Not sure that anything will happen- its a preventitive measure to fill your tank when you store your vehicle. A full tank means there is no exposed fuel tank surface area (inside) and you reduce the chance of condensation (water) from forming inside the tank.

I also know that I make a killing from car owners who need a new pump only because they didn't refuel at 1/4 tank. It's that simple. Refuel above 1/4 tank, and your fuel pump will last a long, long time.
Well since I trust (and like) you I will take that advise. I usually just try to see how much mpg I can get but by the 1/4th point you can get a good estimate. Thanks for the advise and I guess I am one less person you will make a killing off of

Thumbs up Re: When does your fuel light come on

Mine only comes on when it hits the red marker on the fuel gauge. Do you suppose maybe that so many people were burning up their fuel pumps by letting their gas get so low, they raised the amount of fuel left to give you a better warning to prevent this from happening? Makes sense to me! And I am not surprised you've got your pedal to the metal & thoroughly enjoying your new ride!

Mine comes on whenever I turn on the ignition to start the car...otherwise I don't see it, as I don't let it go below 1/4 tank for the reasons already posted.
