The "T" refers to Toluca, the plant where the PTs are built. The digit after the T is used by the manufacturer and can be any number 0-9 or the letter "X". The next digit is the year of manufacture. The "051525" is supposed to designate what number car off the line for that model year. My '01 Ltd had a hand written date on the back edge of the gasket that the hood seals on. I have not found anything like that on my wife's Dream Cruiser, yet. I don't really know if there is a way to find the exact date of manufacture; most references that I have seen get you to an approximate date.

The T1 is actually 1T and is part of the VIN.
1T2XXXXX were the earliest PT's built. Ours is a 1T3XXXXX model. 1 stands for 2001 model, T for Toluca and the rest are your position in the assembly line. The numbers inside your door are the DOM - date of manufacture. 05 is May, 15 is the 15th and the last two didits are the time of manufacture which are in 24 hour clock. They must have worked overtime when they made your car!!! ![]()

I was looking at my information again, and Yep, Wendy, I sit corrected!
We have a "1T27xxxx" and a 2T30xxxx" That'll teach me to try to remember VIN sequences without looking them up first!

Further to Wendy's info, 1T2's were the first ones. I remember someone once posted pictures of some of the earlier Chrysler crash test vehicles on the back of a truck (from before they were released to the public) which had VIN's in the early IT2's.

15 is the day it was built. And the last two should be the hour that it was built so check it again 'cause it can't be 25. Frank ![]() |
