Default cup holders

I've had my PT only about 3 weeks now and my only complaint so far is the cupholders. I gladly would have given up that little cubby under the radio for a pullout cupholder/ash tray like in my Voyager. The PT has only 1 holder that will take a larger diameter and the front ones are a real reach when your driving. I bought one of those adjustable "wizard" holders at Walmart and that helped a little. Also the smoker's package is real lame. Any thoughts?

I don't drink coffee, and I don't smoke.

It's a technique that works for me, maybe it will work for you too?

I don't smoke, and I certainly don't want to encourage any one to in my PT. Still smells brand new (delivered 9/02).
I kinda like the cup holder towards the back. Holds a flashlight unside down perfectly!!!

You must be mighty short. I'm 5'8" and my wife is only 5'2" and neither of us has any problems reaching the cup holders. As for the smoker's package... don't have it. Since we don't smoke our PT still smells brand new and we've had it since November. Nothing worse than getting into a beautiful car and having it smell like an ashtray. YUK!

I never use the two up front only the center one by emergency brake. Back passengers get to fight to the death over the one for the rear. And yes the smoker's package is lame, I try not to smoke in my PT but sometimes you gotta the 405 is enough to drive anyone to smoke.

This is really bad. I bought the smoker kit because I liked the little "compartment" (ashtray) to put pennies in because I don't like pennies in the change holder section. Is that obcessive or what?

I too don't like the cupholders. The front ones, though within reach, are too small for many cups, and if the cup is too tall, it doesn't fit without leaning. Additionally, I prefer to plug my phone power cord/speaker in the lower plug, which renders the two front holders useless except as a place to put my phone and sunglasses.

The holder between the seats is better, except I find the location a little inconvenient; if the cup has a handle on it, its sort of hard to grasp the handle from that location. Also, it doesn't fit the wider cups like my old car's holder did.

There's probably not a real good cure for this, other than get used to it. I would imagine that's the price you pay for a smaller car.

Whether one drinks coffee or not, its still good to have water or some other drink on long cruises.

Has anyone seen any type of replacement center console that would fix the problem with the cup holders? It could have a built in armrest, place for additional storage, etc. What do you think?

OMIGOD!! People smoke in their PTs?!

I really like the cup holders. The two front ones will fit a Tim Horton's cup quite nicely, but I don't use them all that much. I like to keep the case to the CD that currently occupies the player in that slot. (Very handy!) The center one holds a 1.5L water bottle well, and the back one hardly gets used at all. (But I do like the visual of the rear passengers fighting to the death over it, Jo2Broke!! )
