Cruiser Ads Going Local

I was just watching the local news, and lo and behold there's a PT Cruiser ad!!!!!!!!! First one I've EVER seen on local TV. It's the one where the guy empties his garage into the Cruiser, and accidentally loads his dog in it too.

At the bottom of the screen were the words "Now In Stock". Anyone else got the locals yet?

There is a dealer down south of here that has them on their commercials. They have this white standard poodle named Crystal sitting in one. I don't really care if they have a dog in the car, as I am a dog person, but I do get bothered by the fact that the poodle is a female and she has a moustache. Yech! She must have a really crappy (conformation wise) face for them to put that on her. :/

Haven't seen that one yet but there is some print ads in the local Wash. SC area and radio by local dealers. Guess the pipeline is finally starting to fill up. Just read an article on the mini Cooper coming out next spring. That will be the next big demand car. Article says they only plan on selling 20,000 of them in the US market the first year. Yeah right! If everything I'm reading about the car is legit it'll be a huge seller.

TedandLee showed me an add for a 2002 last nite- it goes on to say 2002, leather, ABS, air, auto, ... (in essences, a Limited) then below it had $21,050 (here in Canada, a Limited goes for $30,000 Cdn). Lee asks HUH!!

What the add does NOT mention is that the $21K is the value of the LEASE PAYMENTS that you make, NOT THE RETAIL PRICE OF A 2002 limited!!- something like $299 / month, 60 months, $999 down, ...... The LEV is $9K- $21K + 9K = $30K! Purchase price.

As well, locally, one dealer had ov 18 on their lots- judging from the 2002 NOT having the coloured roof molding, these are ALL 2001's.!

Guess the rush (gouge/wait) is over.

It's over out our way. I was at the dealer I bought my Cruiser from and they had 10 on the lot. Spoke to the salesman, he said they caught-up with their orders then, bang, two deliveries left them with 10 on the lot.

Coming back on the freeway about 30 miles outside of Salt Lake, there it was. A huge billboard advertising a PT Cruiser at John Mecham Chrysler. This is the dealership in Salt Lake that I bought my Cruiser from, and they are advertising them in a different county. "The times, they are a changin'..."

I hope it’s all true. For more than a year the local dealer has had one or two on the lot, always selling for 5000+ over MSRP. All of a sudden he’s got a dozen 2001s on the lot at regular price.

Maybe supply has just now caught up with demand, but maybe these 2001s are cars that he’s had hidden on the back lot and is trying to move them out now before the 2002s arrive. Once they do, I’d be willing to bet dollars to donuts that there will again be just two Cruisers on the showroom floor, both selling for the usual 5000 over.

In KC, Bud Brown Chrysler has a huge "PT CRUISER SALE" sign on the building, and Champion Chrysler has a radio spot that says the will beat ANY other dealers offer on a PT........
