Default Continuation of 5 speed problem---dealer's response

Thanks again for all of your responses to my post about my PT's noisy clutch/linkage. I went to the service manager today and demonstated the clicking noise I get when depressing and/or letting out the clutch. The guy COULD NOT say he couldn't hear the noise, so he had one of his "techs" sit in the car with me while I demonstated the problem. The tech's response was "too bad we don't have another 5 speed around to see if what I hear is normal for the PT..." Well, the tech could hear the clicking noise, but didn't have time (??knowledge??) to look into the noise. So we left it at checking the noise out when I bring the PT for the 3,200 oil change. However, I think I'm going to call DC and try to talk to a tech rep about this. I may even go to the Dodge dealer down the street and see what he has to say, since the PT supposedly has the Neon's platform, etc. My husband may even take it out to his hanger and put it on the hoist and look at this himself along with his airplane mechanic, who is also a car nut. So, I'll keep y'all posted on this.

Default Continuation of 5 speed problem---dealer' response

All I can say is good luck. I have a 5-speed also and have never heard a clicking noise and I have 11,700 miles on my car. But I do know about dealing with Chrysler, there inspectors and there techs. I am the one that had an air bag go off while I was parked in my garage, all any of them did was blame me, until they found out (1 month later) that the wireing harness was damaged from the factory. Yes they fixed it and are still fixing things (this has been since November) that they broke during the inpection and installing the new air bag, but not once did I get a sorry for the trouble nor did they compensate me for the neck injury I got from being hit with the air bag. But I guess that's how they deal with us women.

MBN: The only clinking noise you should have to hear is the one you make when you drive your Cruiser through the dealer's showroom window for his/her failure to repair your vehicle. Hopefully, you can get it repaired in a timely fashion. Good luck.

MBN where do you live? Maybe one of us how lives in your area (w/a 5 apeed) can go with you and show your dealer the difference.

Check the clutch pedal lever return spring. It may just need some lubrication at both ends. A bit of lithium grease may do the trick. This sound cropped up on another car I had. Also, make sure nothing is contacting the lever or the spring through its full swing of action.

Best of luck.

Thanks again for the input----Anyone with a five speed live in the Monterey, CA area and willing to show the dealer mechanic/tech that the clicking noise is not normal?
